Candace Grenkow

My name is Candace Grenkow, and I am honored to be nominated for the position of Treasurer for Unifor Local 1990. I have proudly served in this role for the past four years, bringing both dedication and financial expertise to support our membership.

I hold a degree in Finance and have a strong background in accounting, having worked as an accountant prior to raising my four children. For the past 12 years, I have been employed as an Education Assistant with the Calgary Catholic School District, where I have seen firsthand the importance of advocacy, transparency, and fiscal responsibility in supporting our members.

In addition to my work in education, I have run a small bookkeeping business since 2014, which keeps me closely connected to financial best practices and the evolving needs of organizations like ours.

With a deep commitment to accountability, experience in financial management, and a passion for supporting our members, I am eager to continue serving as Treasurer and ensuring that our union’s resources are managed with integrity and care.

Thank you for your continued trust and support.

Nadir Javier (Javi) Nunez

Hi, I’m Javi Nunez and I’m running for the position of Treasurer. While I may not have extensive professional experience in finance, I bring practical, hands-on knowledge from working in my family’s restaurant. Over the years, I’ve been involved in managing finances, handling payroll, and overseeing purchasing - which gave me a solid understanding of budgeting and financial responsibility.

I believe this experience has prepared me to take on the Treasurer role with a grounded, real-world perspective. I’m ready to learn, grow, and apply my skills in a way that benefits our organization. I take pride in being dependable, detail oriented, and transparent in how I handle money and resources.

Beyond financial management, I’m passionate about supporting our staff. If elected, I’d advocate for more PG (Professional Growth) days and training opportunities for support staff. I believe everyone deserves the chance to learn, grow and feel valued in their role. Investing in professional development strengthens our team and helps us all succeed together.

I’d be honored to bring both my experience and commitment to this position - and I’m ready to get to work.
