YYC Candidate Mohinash Kumar
I’m proud to work at WestJet and understand the operational demands and teamwork it takes to keep our airline running safely and efficiently. I believe our members deserve strong, fair representation during collective bargaining, and I’m committed to ensuring everyone’s voice is heard. I approach challenges with professionalism, clear communication, and a solution-focused mindset. If selected, I will work to represent our group with integrity while advocating for fair working conditions, stability, and respect for all employees.
YYC Candidate Jamie Mote
Jamie Mote – Candidate for Bargaining Committee Unifor Local 531 With 28 years at WestJet, I’ve had the opportunity to work in many areas of our operation, including roles as a Flight Attendant, Inflight Team Lead, Customer Service Agent, Baggage Services Agent, Airport Applications Tester, Guest Service Lead, and AEA Representative. These experiences have given me a broad understanding of our workplace and the challenges our members face every day. Having worked across so many parts of the operation, I understand the day-to-day realities our members experience—whether that’s in the cabin, at the airport, or behind the scenes supporting the operation. During our first round of negotiations, I was honoured to be elected by you—my colleagues—to serve on the Unifor Local 531 Bargaining Committee that negotiated our very first collective agreement. Over nine months of dedicated work, our team collaborated to secure that agreement and lay the foundation for our union moving forward. Being part of that process gave me valuable experience at the bargaining table and a clear understanding of the preparation, collaboration, and persistence it takes to move negotiations forward. Since then, I’ve continued to serve as a Workplace Union Representative, supporting members, helping interpret our collective agreement, and ensuring employees receive fair and informed representation when they need it. As we prepare for our second round of negotiations, we have an important opportunity ahead of us. Building on the foundation of our first agreement, we must focus on strengthening key areas that impact our members every day. This includes advocating for stronger wages that exceed industry averages and stay ahead of inflation, improved overtime compensation, and scheduling improvements that support a healthier work-life balance and a safer, more sustainable working environment for everyone. I’m committed to listening to member feedback, representing your priorities, and working collaboratively to achieve meaningful progress for all members. Thank you for the trust you’ve already placed in me. I’d be honoured to earn your vote and continue representing our colleagues at the bargaining table as we work toward an even stronger agreement for everyone.

YYC Candidate Ahmed Osman
Hello everyone, I’m putting my name forward for Bargaining Representative this year. Last year, I had the chance to be involved in the integration discussions, and it gave me a better understanding of how the process works and what goes on behind the scenes. It also showed me how important it is to have someone at the table who’s listening and bringing forward what people are actually experiencing day to day. I do care about representing our group fairly and making sure our concerns are heard. I’ll do my best to keep communication open and share updates along the way so everyone feels informed. I’d appreciate your support, and I’m happy to chat anytime if you have questions or things you’d want brought forward. Thanks for considering me.
YYC Candidate Maurice Goethals
My name is Moe Goethals, and I am running to serve as your representative for the upcoming Collective Bargaining Agreement contract negotiations. I started my career at YYC with WestJet in 2017 as a TAC agent where I held positions as a Ramp Agent, Tow Agent, Ramp Crew Chief, and DDC. In 2020, the pandemic, WestJet dissolved the Ground Operation and contracted out to ATS (now AGI), who is unionized. I spent the next few years at ATS as a Ramp Crew Chief and Ramp Tow Agent until WestJet restarted the Inbound Baggage Delivery aspect of the Ground Operation and I accepted the role of Ramp Service Lead in 2023 and then the following year added Airport Learning Coordinator Relief. Family is my priority as I have 7 amazing children, so my time is very important. Having a job/career that provides fair wages, realistic work-life balance scheduling, flexibility with vacation trading, favorable and affordable health benefits, and job security is what I am always fighting for. We are entering negotiations at a critical time. While the economic landscape is shifting, our wages haven't kept pace with the rising costs of living. I am well versed with our current CBA and have had the opportunity to work in several unionized environments, providing me with a diverse understanding of member priorities and language in Collective Agreements. I understand the direct challenges our airport members face every day and am ready to fight for a contract that reflects our true value. I humbly ask for your vote. Together, we can build the collective power necessary to win a fair contract.
YYC Candidate Chantel Kuy
Hi, my name is Chantel. I am a passionate individual when it comes to work, family and my hobbies. I have proudly been with WestJet for 20 years. I began my journey as an aircraft groomer. From there I moved into the call center and supported the welcoming team, before transitioning to the airport, where my career has continued to grow and evolve. I started at the airport as a CSA, a role I held for many years, before moving into DDC and eventually into my current position as a Workforce Coordinator. Each role I’ve taken on has given me valuable insight and a well-rounded understanding of our operation, which has helped me succeed and adapt every step of the way. Throughout my time at the airport and in my current role, I’ve gained extensive experience with pay, workload, vacation and scheduling—areas I know many of us are deeply passionate about and eager to see improvements in. I regularly read emails and speak with agents about their concerns, and I strongly believe more can be done to support our teams. I want to advocate those shared concerns and be a voice that helps drive meaningful change. I believe my knowledge and experience in scheduling, pay, workload and vacation, would be a strong asset at the bargaining table. I am committed to listening to my fellow union members, understanding what matters most to you, and bringing those priorities forward. Let’s stand together and fight for what we deserve.
