When I sat on the original bargaining committee, I asked a Federal Conciliation member, if first agreements are the hardest to achieve. (It's a lot of leg work and we referenced 20-30 agreements cover to cover from other companies prior to writing our draft agreement. ) He said no, the hardest is the second agreement, because both sides know what they will no longer accept. That second agreement is here and I know clearly the items from our first agreement that need to be changed and what needs to be added to the foundation. Our members have been letting me know every day I'm on the floor, what needs to be improved. Thank-you for that feedback. What I bring: 1. knowing how the company operates in bargaining. I've been there before and know how they can twist their words and leave things out. (seniority bidding vs seniority scheduling, Sick day roll over vs sick day banking, Open line bidding vs schedule bidding) We have a long list of things to correct. 2. We were rushed to vote last time. I will do everything in my power and not let that happen again. Online voting so everyone can vote, and time to read the agreement for days prior to voting. 3. I want the chance to bring all the ideas forward that you've brought forward over the past 4 years. 4.I'll be dogged and persistent for your interests. We will do everything in my power to get what we set out to achieve. I started with WestJet in 2001 in YEG as a part time CSA. I applied to be a manager and got the job, but in YVR. I worked through the management ranks and survived the reorgs for 15 years or so. I was only months away from being able to retire when our team was let go across the country. I decided to forgo my severance in order to become a CSA again to achieve my retirement. While on the floor, I got a whole new perspective of the team. I loved being on the floor and working alongside all of you. When it came time to organize, to bargain and to be Secretary Treasurer, I said yes. I've been in the room for many management / member meetings across the country, and each one showed the areas we need to improve. I've been Sec Treasurer on a Strata board successfully negotiating an entire building sale. I'm married to a FA and have sat down with the bargaining members of both the pilots and the FA's. Unifor 531 members work too hard not to get a fair agreement. I'm very confident in our team's chances this time around. I've got the experience, I'm asking you to put me in the room.

Bonjour Hi! My name is Clement and I am a candidate to be your next YVR Bargaining Committee Representative! First and foremost I would like to thank everyone who has nominated me and have put your trust and faith in me to hopefully represent us as a team for YVR. I started my journey with WestJet in 2023 and was able to secure a GSL Relief position right after my probation period was completed. Since then I have worked with you all and have seen the hard work that you have put into making our YVR team so special. Since starting with WestJet I have been along side you with a lot of constant updates and changes which coincide with how we as a collective group are feeling; so needless to say I hear you and I understand your thoughts and comments going into the next round of bargaining. Before working with WestJet, I have been an established stage, tv and movie entertainer, restaurant and bar manager, and activist. In over 25 years of my professional life I have been able to represent and fight for our 2SLGBTQIA+, API and BIPOC communities while raising funds for charitable organizations across North America. I believe that we are one voice and together we can work towards our common goal for this next CBA. As a leader I believe in standing up for the team and backing it up with not only words but action. If you elect me as your YVR Bargaining Representative I will work with all of you and be your voice. One more time - I am Clement and I thank you for your support!

Since joining WestJet as a CSA nearly 3 years ago, I’ve felt the same pressures as I know many of you do. Working multiple jobs to make ends meet, because the wage from this job alone doesn’t cut it, especially in a city this expensive. Slowly inching our way up the seniority list — or sometimes not even moving at all — and ending up with an unpredictable open line. Not to mention the burnout we feel from dealing with both of those things on top of the challenges we face at work on a daily basis. And that merely scratches the surface. The fact is, we are not in the same place now as a few years ago when our current contract was ratified. There are areas in our agreement that need reform. There are things we need to improve upon so that we can move forward feeling stronger and more empowered. Regardless of your role in the airport or where you sit on the seniority list, we all deserve to feel valued and respected in our place of work. I am honoured to accept this nomination and would be proud to represent you all by fighting for change as a member of the Bargaining Committee.
