While 2026 might feel like it's lightyears away, your union is already planning for the future; we've actually been planning since September 1, 2022 when the first agreement came into effect. It's never too early to start preparing for the hardest round of bargaining we'll ever face — our second Collective Agreement.
Why is it the hardest? Because now we know what works and, more importantly, what doesn’t. The first agreement is like building a house from scratch — tricky and the foundation might be a bit loose. The second? That’s when we start picking paint colors, rearranging furniture, and demanding a working dishwasher. (Translation: we’re not settling this time.)
We've already got a long wish list of improvements — thanks to your feedback, emails, and midnight text sessions. But we want more. This is your agreement, your workplace, and your future. If something in the current CBA makes you want to throw your RAIC across the room, tell us about it.
What we're looking for:
- Language that doesn’t make sense or doesn’t reflect reality
- Benefits, wages, or working conditions you want to see improved
- Policy gaps we missed last time
- Anything that makes you go, "Why is it even like this?"
We’re not launching the bargaining committee elections just yet — that exciting chapter will come — but we are laying the groundwork now to hit the ground running. The earlier we prepare, the stronger we’ll be at the table.

Let’s get ready to build an agreement that reflects what we’ve learned, what we need, and what we *deserve*. The second agreement isn’t just about progress — it’s about power. And that power starts with your voice.
In Solidarity,
Karen Berry, President Unifor Local 531
