This evening, President Karen Berry sent a message of strength, support and solidary to the Air Canada Flight Attendants on behalf of the 1700 union members of Unifor Local 531. Our message was strong and loud - we are proud to stand alongside our sisters, brothers, and friends as they push forward in their fight for a fair and just contract.
Flight attendants have been clear —fair compensation is their top priority. For too long, these skilled professionals have been expected to perform essential duties without pay for significant portions of their workday. This practice would be unacceptable in any other industry, and it has no place in ours.
Air Canada flight attendants deserve wages that reflect their vital role in ensuring the safety, comfort, and well-being of passengers. They deserve to be compensated for all of the work they do, without exception.
Unifor Local 531 fully supports their demand for an agreement that ends unpaid work, strengthens working conditions, and acknowledges the professionalism and dedication that flight attendants bring to the aviation industry every single day.
Solidarity is our greatest strength—and we will continue to stand with the Flight Attendants of the Air Canada Component of CUPE members until they secure the fair deal they rightfully deserve.
