While certain policies such as the Employee Travel Privileges, Acceptable Use, and Code of Conduct, fall outside the scope of our Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA), they are still enforceable. Violations of these policies can carry serious consequences, and the company has recently increased its monitoring and enforcement efforts.

The union has been made aware of a heightened level of scrutiny regarding the misuse of company systems and privileges. This includes investigations into inappropriate access to reservations, unauthorized changes, upgrades, and fee waivers. It’s important to understand that even though these matters are not outlined in the CBA, the company is well within its rights to investigate and discipline any breaches under its internal guidelines.

We continue to remind members, especially during new hire orientation, that company systems, including internal technology and workstations, are for company work use only. Personal travel arrangements including changes or cancellations to your ticket must be made through the employee travel site.

A key area of concern involves using workplace resources to access or alter travel designate bookings during a shift. Actions such as modifying travel dates, applying upgrades, or waiving fees on personal or family travel are considered clear violations of company policy whether you are on shift or not. The company may take progressive disciplinary action in such cases, including suspension of travel privileges for up to one year or termination depending on the severity.

We also want to highlight that the new FlightSearch app is now available and provides improved access to load information in a legitimate and approved way. It’s a great resource to plan personal travel without risking policy violation.

The union is here to protect your rights under the CBA, but we also want to help members avoid preventable issues outside of it. Company policies exist to ensure fairness and integrity, and we encourage everyone to support one another in following them. If you notice someone unintentionally breaching a policy, a respectful reminder can go a long way in protecting their benefits and reputation.
