G7 Summit in YYC

Share

From June 15 to 17, the G7 Summit will be held in Kananaskis, Alberta, with many delegates and officials arriving through YYC Calgary International Airport. This global event will bring increased activity, heavier traffic, and heightened security at and around the airport.

Please read the following carefully to help protect yourself from unnecessary stress and potential disciplinary action during this time.

What You Need to Know:

  • Expect to see more law enforcement, military, and security personnel in and around the terminal.
  • The tunnel just north of the airport will be closed. Plan alternate routes in advance to ensure timely arrival.
  • All NPS checkpoints and vehicle screening areas will operate under 100% screening protocols, which may cause delays at access points.
  • The Aircraft Viewing Areas: These will be closed to the public for the entire duration of the G7 Summit.
  • You are strongly discouraged from taking photos or posting on social media while at or near the airport.

To protect yourself from discipline during this high-security event, we urge all members to:

  • With increased traffic and screening delays, leave yourself extra travel time to avoid being late.
  • Follow correct procedures if you anticipate being late. Call DDC as soon as possible to report any expected delays.
  • Obey all instructions from airport leadership and management while on duty. This includes any temporary changes or updates issued through internal channels.
