General Membership Meetings provide members with the opportunity to stay informed, raise concerns, and actively participate in shaping our union. It’s your chance to ask questions, provide feedback, and help guide the direction of our union.
Please note that our local union supports members across three provinces and three time zones and our members work in airports that are open 24 hours a day 7 days a week. Meeting times and dates vary throughout the year to ensure the meetings are supportive of allowing as many members as possible to attend. If you are not able to attend, meeting minutes will be emailed to all members no later than 7 days after the meeting has concluded. The General Membership Meeting scheduled for June 25 had to be cancelled last minute due to an emergency in the President's family. To ensure a meeting is held in accordance with our obligations to our members, we are moving forward with rescheduling our General Membership Meeting to Thursday, August 14, 2025, at 1400 PT / 1500 MT / 1700 ET. This date was determined after reviewing the Executive Board’s summer availability, taking into account both union business and personal vacation schedules.
As outlined in our Local Bylaws, under General Membership Meetings, Section 6a:
“Membership meetings will not be held during the months of July and August, unless otherwise determined by a vote of the general membership at the preceding meeting. In emergency situations, the Executive Board may call a special meeting during this period.”
Given the unforeseen and emergency circumstances that led to the cancellation of our June 25th meeting, it has been determined that a special meeting in August is appropriate under our bylaws. If you have any concerns regarding this decision, please don’t hesitate to reach out. An email containing the above information was shared with all Unifor Local 531 members on June 27 and June 28.

- Agenda posted / emailed by July 31
- Meeting minutes emailed to members by August 21
- Quarterly EB report due to members by August 21 (June, July, August EB meetings)
